The countdown to RMG Exposed 2011 is now on. Less than 2 weeks away, the works from our juried photography competitors have arrived and we are thrilled to announce 4 new lots to our live auction. Two are profiled below, and all can be seen in on the Live Auction Lots tab.
The first is from Meaghan Oglivie. Meaghan was accepted this past July to a summer residency with the
School of Visual Arts for its Still and Moving Imaging program. She was immersed
in a creative atmosphere working alongside established international artists.
During their intensive training, they produced, directed and shot a short film
which had its debut screening in Chelsea, New York. Also, making the experience
memorable was being exposed to influential speakers including Guggenheim's
Curator of Photography Jennifer Blessing, American Film Critic Amy Taubin and
Art Critic and Historian Max Kozloff. Meaghan then travelled to Costa Rica, where this photograph was taken.
We have also received a work from Toni Wallachy. Toni is a Toronto-based photographer who has participated in the Contact festival, the Queen West Art Crawl and has shown at the Gladstone Hotel and Hang Man Gallery among many others. Her artist statement indicates she is interested in "the alchemy between what is earthbound and what is not." This is apparent in this photograph, Orchid Dream #1.
